Student moving: cheap, quick, no drama
Manchester has more than 80,000 students, and twice a year, September intake and the June and July move-out, thousands of you need to shift everything you own. We've become the regular choice for University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan and University of Salford students, because we know student budgets, student deadlines and student areas: Fallowfield, Withington, Rusholme, the lot.
There's no minimum load. Three boxes, a suitcase, a gaming chair and a desktop PC? Fine. You pay for what you actually move, agreed with you before we start, not some made-up minimum.
Student move seasons, what to expect
June and July: end-of-year move-out
This is our busiest stretch of the year. Everyone leaves halls and houses in Fallowfield, Withington and Victoria Park around the same week, the streets fill with parents' cars and the parking goes. Book 7-14 days ahead if you can. We put extra vans on for the move-out weeks, but weekend slots still go fast.
September: freshers and new-term move-in
September is the same job in reverse: new students into halls, returning students between rentals, and groups of three or four friends sharing one van between them. Weekend slots book up about a week ahead.
Mid-year: January and Easter moves
The quiet months. If you're switching rooms mid-year or coming back from placement, we can normally get to you the same day with a couple of hours' notice.
Student halls we cover
- Fallowfield Campus (UoM): Oak House, Owens Park, Ashburne Hall, Richmond Park, Woolton Hall, Sheavyn House, Unsworth Park. We know every access road, every parking restriction.
- Victoria Park (UoM): Hulme Hall, Dalton-Ellis Hall, St Anselm Hall, Canterbury Court. Tight one-way streets, we're used to it.
- City Campus (UoM/MMU): Denmark Road, Whitworth Park, George Kenyon Hall, Daisy Bank. Central city parking zones mean we'll brief you on loading times.
- Peel Park & Salford Quays (UoS): Peel Park Quarter, Eddie Colman and John Lester Courts, True Student Salford. Close to MediaCityUK, easy access from our Salford base.
Shared house group moves, split the van, split the cost
The classic shared-house move: three or four of you in a Fallowfield terrace, all out on the same day. Instead of four separate bookings, you share one van. We load everyone's stuff, stop off at each new place on the way, and the cost splits four ways. It usually works out cheaper than a couple of Uber trips.
Student Moves FAQ
Yes, this is exactly why students book us. Our driver helps with all the loading and unloading. You don't need parents, friends, or anyone else there. For heavy items like mini-fridges or large suitcases up multiple flights, select 'driver + helper' when booking.
Multi-stop drops are fine. Just let us know the addresses when booking. We'll quote the total price including all stops. First stop within Greater Manchester is included; each additional stop adds a small additional fee depending on distance.
Yes. We regularly move student belongings to and from self-storage units (Big Yellow, Safestore, Lok'nStore, Access Self Storage) around Manchester. This is very common for international students and those not returning home over summer.
Student moves are competitively priced for a single room's worth of belongings within Greater Manchester. A shared house move (2-3 students splitting a van) typically costs a competitive rate. We keep prices low because we know student budgets are tight, clear quotes agreed before we start, no minimum load charge.
Yes. We cover University of Manchester (UoM), Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), University of Salford, and the Royal Northern College of Music. We handle moves to and from all halls (Fallowfield Campus, Victoria Park, City Campus, Peel Park) and private accommodation in Fallowfield, Withington, Rusholme, and beyond.
Yes, June, July, and September are our busiest student move months. We recommend booking 1-2 weeks ahead for end-of-term moves. We run extra vans during peak student periods to ensure availability.
Not at all. We don't have a minimum load requirement. If you only have a few boxes, a suitcase, and maybe a small desk or chair, we'll still help, and you'll still pay a fair price agreed before we start, not an inflated minimum charge.
