Appliances: heavy, awkward and worth doing right
White goods are heavy, awkward and a lot more fragile than they look. A washing machine laid on its side can damage the drum, a fridge freezer that travels flat can fail when you plug it back in, and an American-style fridge weighs well over a hundred kilos and often won't fit through a standard doorway until the doors come off. These aren't jobs for a mate's estate car. They need a tail-lift van and someone who's done it before.
We move appliances most days of the week. Washing machines get transit bolts to lock the drum, everything travels upright, and we carry appliance dollies and floor runners so your walls and floors come out of it as well as your machine does.
Appliances we regularly transport
- Fridge freezers: Standard under-counter fridges, tall freestanding fridge freezers, and large American-style side-by-side units. Transported upright, never laid flat, to protect the compressor. Tall units over 180cm may need doors removing to clear doorways, we handle this.
- Washing machines: Please drain before collection. We insert transit bolts to lock the drum and prevent suspension damage during transport. Hoses should be disconnected and bagged.
- Tumble dryers: Lighter than washing machines and simpler to transport. Condenser dryers don't need draining, but vented dryers should have their hoses removed.
- Dishwashers: Slimline and full-size. Ideally drained before transport. We keep them upright during transit.
- Range cookers & ovens: Heavy (often 80-120kg for a dual-fuel range). Require tail-lift loading and two-person handling for stairs. We recommend driver + helper for range cooker moves.
Small items and single-item moves
Sometimes you don't need a full house move, just one thing shifted from A to B. A chest of drawers you bought on eBay. A bike that won't fit in your car. A gym bench or treadmill. A large TV. A mirror or artwork too tall for standard delivery. Our small-item service is built for exactly this, no minimum load, no "it's too small for us" rejection. If it fits in the van, we'll move it, and you'll pay a fair price based on the item and distance, not a made-up minimum.

Appliance Transport FAQ
Fridge compressor oil can flow from the compressor into the cooling lines when laid flat, potentially causing blockages or failure when powered on. If a fridge must be laid flat (which we avoid), it should stand upright for at least 4 hours, ideally 24, before being plugged in to allow the oil to settle back.
We'll position the appliance in your chosen room and remove transit bolts. Plumbing-in (washing machines, dishwashers) should be done by a qualified plumber or competent DIYer. We can connect fridge freezers to existing power sockets if accessible.
Yes, we can take your old appliance to a registered recycling centre. There's a small disposal fee (a small fee depending on the item) to cover recycling centre charges. Let us know when booking if you need disposal.
Yes. American fridge freezers are large and heavy (often 100kg+) and require a tail-lift van for safe loading. We transport them upright, never laid flat, which can damage the compressor. Our tail-lift raises the fridge to van height and it's strapped securely in place for the drive.
Yes please, drain the machine and disconnect hoses before we arrive. We carry transit bolts to secure the drum during transport (if your machine didn't come with them, we have spares). This prevents the drum from moving and potentially damaging the suspension during transit.
